Fun Facts About Me
Share one fun fact about yourself: I exhibited my paintings in three professional painting exhibitions before.
The most inspiring engineer I know is ....... Because ........ ?: My father. He taught me that having the courage to be different builds creative, unique, and distinguished personalities, and that the beauty is in variation and diversity. He maintained a balance between being a successful engineer, taking care of his family, and enjoying some hobbies on the side.
Why did you choose to study engineering?: I love mathematics and practical problem-solving. Engineering is a way for me to utilize my skills in those areas as well as being creative to make the world a better place while enjoying the journey.
How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?: I work as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Advanced Real-time Simulation Lab researching modeling for sustainability. In my work, I build computer models to simulate real-life events that can impact how to ensure less impact on natural resources (e.g. reducing the impact on HVAC systems in buildings). At the same time, I teach software engineering (Requirement Elicitation and ModelDriven Engineering) and programming for undergraduate and graduate students at Carleton University.
What do you love most about your career?: Everything! I love researching, coming up with new ideas and having a positive impact on the
world around me.
What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?: Be persistent and enjoy what you are doing. Choose the field that you enjoy the most and pursue your dream. If there is a will there is always a way to reach your goals.
