Why did you choose to study engineering?: In high school, I was good at math and physics. My parents explained to me what an engineer was and the types of projects involved. Problem solving is an exciting/motivating activity for me.
How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?: I am asked by Operations and Maintenance staff for technical solutions when procuring new equipment, installing and commissioning new equipment and during troubleshooting.
What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?: Don’t give up! It can seem overwhelming, but those long hours at the library studying are worth it! The skills you learn (outside of the technical skills) such as time management and teamwork will serve you well in all aspects of life. Spend time with the trades and learn as much as you can from them!
