Fun Facts About Me
Profile Questions
Why did you choose your program of study?: My study of Engineering continues to be rooted in the philosophy that there is more than what meets the eye. Engineering allows me the outlet to explore unassuming processes from beginning to end, and design functional solutions.
What has been your favourite course (in Engineering) and why?: My favourite course in engineering is “Sustainability and Ethics”, where I learned of the impact engineering processes and systems, continue to have on the environment. This course inspired me to consider the importance of engineering sustainability by designing energy-efficient operating systems at a rate that does not compromise the natural environment, nor the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
What has been the best part of your Engineering education to date?: The best part of my engineering education to date is figuring out what I am passionate about. The general education courses of Chemical Engineering have provided a foundation of transferable, critical and analytical thinking skills. Going forward, I’d like to develop sustainable technologies to incorporate traditional processes into new ideological perspectives and develop both technical and non-technical aspects synergistically.
What do you hope to do after you graduate?: As my education specializes, I want to study and build a career at the nexus of where engineering meets design thinking. These are not always synonymous; while the foundation of engineering is design, the crux of design thinking is innovation. Lean manufacturing, needs-based innovation, sustainable material alternatives, and renewable energy sources are all examples of design thinking principles that I want to further develop in engineering.
