Why did you choose to study engineering?: Honestly – I thought it sounded cool. Engineers are involved with every aspect of today's world. I dreamt of myself building a sustainable building, improving a transit system, reorganizing a corporation or designing robots for dangerous jobs. Engineering makes modern life possible.
How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?: My immersive studies offered me a technical foundation in programming, algorithmic business analysis and modeling, paired with core business skills like interpersonal management and case analysis. I studied the design, development and analysis of software and hardware used to solve problems in a variety of business contexts. Because computers solve problems to serve people, there is a significant human side to computer science as well which I contour on a daily basis.
What do you love most about your career?: The challenges. I love coming to work and figuring things out. I have never been bored and always challenged. I am continuously learning and am confident I picked the right path.
What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?: Be curious. The best people I work with are the ones who ask the hard questions, and are not afraid of doing so.
