Why did you choose to study engineering?:
I loved science and math in high school and wanted a degree where I could use both. I was encouraged by my mother to look into engineering. I went to a presentation at U of T about Industrial Engineering applications in healthcare and I was hooked!

How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?:
My job is a mix of data analysis, process improvement, and coding so I use my engineering degree everyday. I’ve also noticed I use it outside of work to solve problems in my life and keep myself organized.

What do you love most about your career?:
I love that in healthcare there’s a chance to make a big impact on people’s lives. I want to make our healthcare system more efficient and accessible for everyone.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?:
If you’re thinking about it at all, try it. The career opportunities within engineering are so vast. No matter which engineering program you pick, they really just teach you how to learn and think critically. That skillset is useful in every industry. It’s not the easiest degree to get, but the flexibility is invaluable.
