Our Current Chair
Dr. Kim Jones, Associate Chair of Undergraduate Chemical Engineering at McMaster University has been appointed as the Chair for ONWiE from July 2018 – June 2026. Jones is a seasoned diversity champion. She served as a McMaster Engineering Faculty Leadership Fellow from 2016 to 2017 with a focus on improving diversity. As a Fellow, Kim introduced a writing group for women faculty members, secured parking for those who are pregnant or on parental leave, worked to better understand the needs of underrepresented groups, supported women in engineering student groups and organized workshops for women faculty members. Kim was named the 2019 Engineer of the Year for the Hamilton/Halton region. She is a strong advocate for inclusiveness, equity and diversity in engineering. In addition to facilitating outreach programs that reach thousands of girls annually, she does research on effective interventions to create inclusive environments for all engineers.

The members of the ONWiE network are all the schools and faculties of engineering across Ontario and Canada. These schools and faculties work together to deliver ONWiE programs, provide resources, and promote the success of the women in engineering in their program of study and as working professionals.
