Fun Facts About Me

Share one fun fact about yourself:
I don't take myself too seriously. Life is too short for that.

The most inspiring engineer I know is ....... Because ........ ?:
I'm inspired by many of my friends and colleagues, many of whom are sometimes the only women in their field at a more senior level at their respective companies. I love that I've worked with many of them and that they continue to be a support network for me. We encourage each other to Lean In and take chances. I wish for everyone to have a strong support network that can motivate you to be the best you can be

Profile Questions

Why did you choose to study engineering?:
I thought engineering = train conductor. I excelled at math, chemistry and physics and it was pure luck that I had a very good guidance counsellor that suggested I look into engineering and explained that there were many facets to it.

What are your best memories of your engineering education?:
I was heavily involved in the engineering student council and university senate and this enabled me to get a fuller and more rich experience of university life, beyond just studying and working hard.

How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?:
I am a project manager that oversees the design and construction of stormwater management projects. I review the designs and ensure the project stays on track and on budget.

What do you love most about your career?:
I continue to grow and learn and push myself beyond my comfort level.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?:
Let go of your preconceived notions. If you like solving problems and can communicate, you will be an excellent engineer.
