I am a road cyclist, aspiring to race at the national level.

The most inspiring engineer I know is ....... Because ........ ?:
My parents. My mom (Chemical Engineer) because she accomplished a successful career, is now happily retired and is still leading a life of continuous learning. My Dad (Mechanical Engineer) because of his work in the academic field promotes industry – university partnerships at both the research and education levels. And because they both raised a family of four children and for their unconditional support.

Why did you choose to study engineering?:
Because it openly accepted my objective thinking mindset while encouraged my need to
effectively communicate with a diverse team of individuals.

How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?:
I apply the developed ability to problem solve by learning a process, categorizing and prioritizing the steps involved, identifying areas of improvement, and ultimately trying to simplify. Simplification can be the most challenging part but can lead to beautiful results.

What do you love most about your career?:
Being able to work with people who understand the importance of team diversity to tackle problems through different points of view.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?:
A career in engineering opens a world of possibilities. One of the greatest takeaways from my degree, is having a better understanding of how I learn which has greatly contributed to my career development and growth and has enabled application of these skills to other areas of my life. Always keep an open mind and embrace the ability to learn and grow.
