Profile Questions

Why did you choose to study engineering?:
At an early age I watched a lot of extreme makeover home edition episodes. The concept of something coming from nothing intrigued me. As a result, I was drawn to structural engineering, however, during my work experience, I found my interest in transportation engineering and planning. This area allowed me to be more hands on with people and allowed me to connect better with them. I enjoy strategizing future transport infrastructure especially for the vulnerable populations such as pedestrians and cyclists.

How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?:
At the moment not yet, but I intend to focus my expertise in strategizing future transport infrastructure as well as managing day to day operations of transport infrastructure.

What do you love most about your career?:
I love that it is people based and that I get to be a part of the solution. This career enables me to be apart of that.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?:
I would advise them not to be afraid of standing out, especially female engineers to be. They should not be intimidated by the industry being dominated by males, but to seek out successful women engineering in the industry that will mentor them, as well as give wise counsel.
