Profile Questions
Why did you choose to study engineering?: I chose Engineering because I was always interested in how things went together and I liked working with tools and machines, even at a young age. As I got older I recognized that I excelled in maths and sciences and putting that together with my love for hands-on seemed like a natural fit.
How do you apply your engineering degree to your current career?: I manage a large team of engineers and mechanics and am responsible for all Powertrain testing at FCA. My team is involved in determining test set ups, part build up and tear downs, testing methodologies, data analysis, root causing of issues, and analyzing technical solutions. All of this is directly related to my engineering degree.
What do you love most about your career?: I have enjoyed every engineering position I have held. What I have liked most throughout my career is the diversity it has offered me even within one field, that being automotive. Each day can be different, just as each position has been. I have had the opportunity to work in Design, Manufacture, Testing, Analysis, Program Management and Operations. I have never been bored, have always been challenged, am continuously learning and am confident I picked the right path.
What advice would you give to someone hoping to pursue a career in engineering?: Engineering is a very diverse field and there is something for everyone who is interested. Pick your passion and follow it and you will be fulfilled.
