Fun Facts About Me

If your best friend had to describe you in 10 words or less, what would they say?:
Funny, Always happy, Compassionate, Responsible, Leader.

Share one fun fact about yourself:
I love going to the gym! It is the best way to release energy at the end of a long day and helps you feel reenergized for the next day!

What do you want to accomplish in the next 10 years?:
In the next 10 years, I’d like to continue my studies and learning in the electrical engineering discipline. I want to continue to involve myself in new experiences in order to get the most from my University experience and my degree. On the other hand I want to continue to encourage the next generation of girls to enter into the different engineering disciplines to increase the representation of women in these male-dominated fields.

The most inspiring engineer I know is ....... Because ........?:
The most inspiring engineer I know is Emily Droppo, she was my soph in first year. She inspired me to choose Electrical Engineering and her passion for the subject has motivated me throughout my studies. Her accomplishments and her involvement within society, as an employee of Independent Electricity System Operator(IESO) and as a citizen has been very impressive. I really hope to be like her and follow the same path once I graduate.

Profile Questions

Why did you choose your program of study?:
In high school, I always had an aptitude for math and science courses. With the encouragement of my teachers as well as a personal interest in engineering, I chose to pursue electrical engineering. I was super excited when I heard about the amazing engineering programs at Western University, and automatically knew that was the field I want to specialize in.”

What has been your favourite course (in Engineering) and why?:
My favourite course would have to be Calculus or Physics II. Ever since high-school I enjoyed Calculus and I took AP Calc in grade 12 which I found really helped me through first year, since I had already seen a lot of the stuff before. I also enjoyed Physics II, every first year engineering student has to take this class and it is mainly based on electrical concepts. Through this course I realized I enjoyed electrical and therefore decided to follow that path. The professors and TA’s for these courses were a lot very helpful and knowledgeable. That made the courses significantly better.

What has been the best part of your Engineering education to date?:
The best part of my engineering education to date would have to be the insanely tight-knit community. Everyone wants to help others and ensure everyone does well. The people you meet are so impressive, everyone is smart and destined for great things! I would definitely say the best part of my engineering education, is being in engineering…in first year everything was possible with good friends and coffee.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?:
I hope to work with power generation or power implementation for the future. I enjoy the concept of solar power as well as transformer systems, and other generation techniques. I hope to be apart of the next group of innovators for the future to improve our use of energy. I enjoy the involvement of energy within the manufacturing area, so I would also try to involve myself in that as-well.
